My Approach

Stress & Life Balance

In my clinical and coaching work, I have found that the accelerating pace of change fueled by advances in technology, with all its advantages, has created significant levels of stress that impact our capacity to manage the demands of work, relationships and performance.

Stress is a normal part of life that challenges us to learn and grow; a healthy process when it is within our capacity to respond effectively and return to a relaxed state.

However, when we are overwhelmed, acute stress interferes with our ability to concentrate, learn and maintain our emotional equilibrium. In extreme cases, chronic stress elevates blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Common features of acute and chronic stress are interrupted sleep, excessive worrying, agitated mood, headaches, feelings of irritability and gastrointestinal distress.

To address issues of acute and chronic stress, I teach a variety relaxation skills to support clients by increasing self-awareness, improving concentration, reducing sleep problems and improving overall health and well-being.
